Breast Milk Recipes

For all the mommies that have been following me (dads too!) I’m back today to share another amazing way to use breast milk in the first months of your child’s life. Whether you are planning to follow baby led weaning or plan to stick to traditional pureed foods, eating solids are an important milestone in a baby’s life. So how can we enhance them?! If you guess breast milk you are 100% right! Whether you are breast feeding or formula feeding, milk should be your child’s main source of nutrition up until at least a year. As an overproducer, I’m always finding ways to use my milk, on top of my weekly donations. I found that if I am able to squeeze even an ounce here or there in Baby V’s food/snacks then it’s a WIN/WIN. I will share a couple recipes I like to use that are baby approved!

3 Ingredient Pancakes

¾th of medium sized ripe banana (1 whole medium-sized banana, if not using breast milk)

2 table spoons of flour

1 egg

1 ounce of breast milk (optional)

Dipping Sauce

1 Tablespoon of Greek Yogurt

Choice of berries (Blueberries, Strawberries or Blackberries)

Take the banana and mash it until almost pureed. Crack one egg and whisk until all ingredients are blended, add 1 oz of breast milk and finish off with 2 table spoons of your choice of flour. Let rest for 2-3 minutes. On a hot stove bring a skilet on medium heat, using a table spoon pour small little batches and let cook for 2 mins on each side or until golden brown. Offer dipping sauce on the side for added yumminess by taking berries of your choice mashing them and mixing with Greek yogurt!

Breast Milk Fruit Popsicles

Breast Milk

Purees fruits of your choice I like using the Nuby Garden Fresh Tray to make my popsicles. These are great for teething babies, add some fruit if your little one is over 6 months and has been introduced to solids already. If you are adding fruits,  I like to make three tiered popsicles. I begin with pureed blueberries, allow 30 mins to freeze, then add breast milk, freeze for 30 mins and finish off with strawberry puree! Make sure to include handle when the last layer has been added
